Good afternoon,

I'm new to disassembling and getting firmware dumps, so I came here for advice.

What interests me is the method with the physical connection and removal of the dump and not with the analysis of the received firmware from external sources.

Purpose: to obtain a firmware dump from the dir-300 router for further analysis(binwalk, objdump, etc.)
In stock: the simplest rs232 programmer(a couple of times and a very long time ago used to reanimate hdd controllers)

1.In any case, it will be required to solder the chip?

2.Can it be possible to “attack” it from above without removing it from the board? Or, if available, use a different interface to receive the dump.

3.Is this programmer suitable for this task?
